Creating homes with authenticity and charm
I founded Niki Arden Studio to help and inspire homeowners in creating homes that bring them joy and fulfilment every single day.
Based in Haslemere, I specialise in residential interior design across Surrey, West Sussex, and Hampshire, with a particular passion for period properties that deserve sensitive, thoughtful design.
My background is perhaps a little unconventional for an interior designer
I originally trained as a physiotherapist and worked in the NHS before life took us to New York. Unable to work there, I seized the opportunity to return to art school – something I should have done in the first place! I started working as an artist, selling on Etsy which I loved, although it required long periods of uninterrupted focus that became impractical once children came along.
Along the way, we renovated a Brooklyn brownstone and that experience, combined with growing up with a father who designed and built several homes and an immensely creative and practical mother, set me firmly on the path to interior design.
As soon as my youngest began nursery I retrained at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design in London and have been working independently ever since.

My approach to interior design
I believe your home should be a sanctuary - a place that is authentically reflective of those who embrace and honour its architectural heritage.

Whether working with a Victorian terrace, a country cottage or a grand listed building, I endeavour to approach each project with the same core values:
Authenticity
Honouring the character and history of each home whilst making it feel uniquely personal to you.

Creativity with purpose
Combining colour, pattern and design in ways that feel current yet timeless; balancing aesthetic flair with the realities of everyday family life.

Client-centred design
Designing with empathy to suit your tastes and lifestyle whilst working within your budget to create the home that is truly yours.

Respect for heritage
Being sensitive to architectural roots and historical context, ensuring that interventions enhance rather than erase a home's story.

Warmth and character
Creating spaces that are inviting, comfortable, and full of charm.
Beyond interior design
When I'm not designing homes, you'll find me running creative workshops from my historic Haslemere home teaching lampshade and candle shade making to local groups.
I also create and sell bespoke cushions and decorative pieces, bringing the same attention to detail and love of colour and pattern to these smaller projects.
